What's the difference?
Manual cameras are cameras which (idiot proof way of speaking) you control every function manually, aperture, shutter etc.
SLR cameras are those that kinda work like DSLRs just that there are NO screen displays and it uses the standard 35mm film!
If you are a beginner, I will suggest you to choose the SLR cameras because it is pretty much idiot proof.
